Factory building games have exploded in popularity over the last few years, and it’s no surprise every year we have more and more of these games popping up like dandelions in my back yard.
But are they all worth it ?

StarRupture is one of those games that , in my opinion ,is.

It takes the factory-building formula and mixes it with:

  • brutal combat

  • survival mechanics

  • exploration

  • base defense

  • and a planet that literally wipes itself clean every hour.

The coolest part for me is how different it feels despite looking familiar at first glance.

⚙️Automation

The automation system is built around a request-based rail network instead of classic conveyor logistics, which …. is kind of weird at first, but it opens up new challenges and makes you reinvent the image you have of your factory.

It looks like you have a cap to how many buildings you can fit inside an area, but for the time being, you can expand the factory indefinitely.

🌍Exploration & Combat

Exploration is actually mandatory for progression, and the combat is WAY more intense than most factory games. This is really up to you to decide if it’s your thing or not . There is a completely different feel to the game compared to Satisfactory.

The main quirk of the game is the planet’s Start that periodically “ruptures”, and wipes everything on the planet, that includes plants , enemies and YOU ! To avoid being killed by the sun , you have to take shelter during these events, and you might think it’s something that could stop you from exploring. However …. it’s insanely easy and cheap to just drop a shelter wherever you are and escape a gruesome fiery death.

🛠️Early Access

It’s not all good, the game still feels very early access in certain areas — especially factory building depth and power systems .

It’s a bit hard to create multi-level factories and the rails , which are the main logistics system , don’t play really well with one another. Honestly I have been able to make anything looking different than a bowl of spaghetti , no matter how hard I try 😀

If you enjoy games like Satisfactory, Factorio, Dyson Sphere Program or other automation games, this one is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

So is StarRupture the new Satisfactory ?
At this time , no. But it could be.
To be honest the game promises to be pretty big, and if it manages to add a little depth to its system , it might very well be the next big thing. I am keeping my eye on this one !
